Scholarship
For over 100 years, education has been the cornerstone of Conway and Faulkner County’s economy. Toad Suck Daze contributes to that legacy each year by granting scholarships to higher learning institutions.
Since 1981, the Toad Suck Daze Committee of the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce has held a fun, family-oriented festival. In addition to the festivities, the committee has developed a scholarship program to promote higher education in Faulkner County. As the festival grows so do the goals for the Toad Suck Daze Community Service Scholarship Program. These funds come from festival proceeds and the sale of ‘official’ Toad Suck Daze merchandise.
Since the scholarship program began, the committee has awarded over $624,500 to approximately 193 Faulkner County students attending the University of Central Arkansas, Hendrix College, Central Baptist College, and local community colleges.
In 2008, the committee began the Toad Suck Daze Get Smart Challenge by endowing $300,000 to the Community Foundation of Faulkner County. This combined with endowments at UCA, Hendrix, and CBC totals over $500,000. The committee went a step further and pledged another $250,000 to endowment by 2012. The committee challenges the community of Faulkner County to raise $250,000 during that same times to create $1 Million in endowments. This year, the Toad Suck Daze Committee of the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce will contribute $44,500 towards scholarships.
- Three scholarships in the amount of $3,000 to Central Baptist College
- Three scholarships in the amount of $3,000 to Hendrix College
- Three scholarships in the amount of $3,000 to University of Central Arkansas
- Two scholarships in the amount of $1,500 to University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton
- Four scholarships in the amount of $3,000 from the Get Smart Scholarship Fund at the Community Foundation of Faulkner County
- $1,500 in scholarship money will be given to the Faulkner County Single Parent Scholarship Fund
In addition, $27,000 will be added to the Toad Suck Daze Get Smart Scholarship Fund at the Community Foundation of Faulkner County.
The purpose of the Toad Suck Daze Community Service Scholarship is to encourage community service among Faulkner County youth and to provide an opportunity for educational and community growth.
